🗝️ Connection requests are the starting point for most outreach workflows. Users can send blank requests or include a personalised message depending on their LinkedIn subscription level.

⚠️ Important: Free LinkedIn accounts cannot send connection requests with messages. Users must leave the message field blank.

Add a Connection Request Step

  1. Click Add Step and select Connection Request.

  2. Enter a message or leave it blank if the user has a free LinkedIn account.

  3. Use Personalisation Tags to insert the recipient’s name, company or role.

Configure Outcomes

  1. Accepted + No Reply: Add follow-up wait times and messages.

  2. Accepted + Replied: Leave blank to avoid automated responses after a real reply.

  3. Not Accepted: Add profile views, additional waits and a revoke step.

  4. Already Connected: Add a first-degree message to re-engage existing contacts.

When to Use Blank vs. Messaged Requests

  1. Use blank requests for free LinkedIn users to prevent automation failures.

  2. Use short personalised messages for paid users to increase acceptance rates.

  3. Avoid long introduction messages as they reduce acceptance likelihood.

💡 Best Practices

  • Keep connection request messaging under 300 characters for better acceptance.

  • Always add a Revoke Connection Request step after a suitable waiting period.

  • Encourage consultants to review their messaging regularly for tone and relevance.

🤔 FAQs

Q1: Why are my connection requests failing?
Answer: This usually occurs when users have a free LinkedIn account but included a message in the request.

Q2: Should users message first-degree connections?
Answer: Yes, separate pathways allow users to re-engage existing contacts without sending a request.
