Automations Lock After Activation

Understand why active automations in Access Automate CRM are locked from editing once turned on, and how to make changes safely by deactivating the automation first.

Written by Terence Cassidy

Once an automation is turned on in Access Automate CRM, its configuration is locked and cannot be edited while it is active. This ensures that contacts already in a live workflow are not affected by unexpected changes mid-flight.

Why Automations Are Locked

Editing a live automation - for example, changing steps, conditions, or timing - could cause unpredictable behaviour for contacts already progressing through it. By locking the configuration after activation, Access Automate CRM guarantees that what you set up is exactly what runs, from start to finish.

What This Means for You

  • You cannot edit the steps, conditions, or settings of a turned-on automation.

  • The automation will run exactly as configured when it was activated.

  • No accidental changes can affect contacts currently in the workflow.

How to Make Changes to a Live Automation

  1. Turn off the automation. This deactivates it and removes the lock.

  2. Make your changes to the configuration.

  3. Turn the automation back on to re-activate it with the updated settings.

⚠️ Important: Turning off an automation will stop it for all contacts currently in that flow. Consider this before deactivating a live automation with contacts mid-way through.
